Once again I am a finalist in the “Travel Photographer of the Year Awards“
Being a professional photographer I don’t see myself as a judge of other peoples work, particularly my peers, it’s always the audience who decides. I do know that I connect with my own work, perhaps in a way that the pictures brings back memories of how I felt at the moment when I pushed the button. These emotions make it difficult for me to choose which picture to enter, but I love to do it, the competition being one of the many things I look forward to throughout the year. “Travel Photographer of the Year” is an international travel photography award where you can compete against the best, the standards are really high so to be short listed as a finalist from thousands of entries is a real buzz and inspires me to raise my game. It’s almost like a win, but I’ll have to wait until January 2024 to find that out. Will my entry be chosen or won’t it! You plant a seed and hope it grows and come the spring you have green shoots or maybe even a bloom. Well hopefully, if not there’s always next year. I can’t show you the pictures here because the final judging is still ongoing but I am honoured to be a finalist for the third time in the past five years.
