Pictures taken as the Parade of Sail turned into the start of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Race

There are some interesting shots of MIR, Shabab Oman and Capitan Miranda in the opening stages. Also some nice images of Tecla, Pelican of London, Cuauhtemoc and Sedov, the latter stood off for the entire event in port, suddenly appearing (not bad for probably the biggest tall ship in the world!) and joining the fleet for the start of the race as the clouds vanished and the day eventually ended in a beautiful sunset.
