The light in the Shetland Isles is fantastic, you can experience practically the whole weather gamut in one day or even just a few hours and despite the race start and parade being cancelled many of the ships set some sails for their departure. Swan of Lerwick departed under full sail having sailed the full length of the harbour beforehand and Christian Radich under bare yards looked stunning as she disappeared into a sea mist escorted by the local lifeboat. Jolie Brise also set some sail and we looked on as some of her crew working out on the bowsprit were plunged almost waist deep into the sea.
