A series of photographs taken whilst onboard the Dutch brig Morgenster’s first leg of the expedition south from Holland to the Cabo Verde in 2019. The story starts as she leaves her home port of Den Helder. With bad weather predicted we navigated our way through the canals to Enkhuizen, across the Ijessel Meer and through the waterways to Amsterdam and Ijmuiden where we entered the North Sea. Sailing down the European coast as far as Belgium and the Channel coast of England as far as Cornwall before making the passage across to France and the notorious bay of Biscay. We proceeded south to Spain with a brief pause in Villa Garcia Arousa-Santiago and after in Vigo arriving at Cascais in the south of Portugal a few days later.
