ABOUT THE SHIP The Norwegian “Statsraad Lehmkuhl” is a 3-masted steel bark, built in 1914 by Johann C. Tecklenborg AG, Bremerhaven-Geestemünde as a training ship for the German merchant marine. Her original name was “Grossherzog Friedrich August”. She was purchased by the Norwegian Ship owners association in 1923 for the purpose of sail training in Norway and renamed “Statsraad Lehmkuhl”. Now owned by the Foundation Stiftelsen Seilskipet she is one of the most beautiful ships in the fleet.
